KYRGYZSTAN
KYRGYZSTAN
For the first time Ornitholidays presents a tour to Kyrgyzstan!
A Country that only recently opened to tourism, therefore it preserve its natural and cultural heritage and can be considered a new frontier for European birdwatchers.
We will explore different habitats: green alpine valleys, marshes and semideserts.
We will cross a pass above 4000mt and sleep in yurts on a lake shore.
Someone might also like to swim into the refreshing waters of Salt Lake (optional) and we will hike before the high and harsh snowy peaks of Tien Shan mountains.
Each day we will look for the many different species that live in the Country: the White-browed Tit Warbler, nice endemism of Kyrgyzstan and southwestern China; the restless Rufous-naped Tit; the colorful Eversmann’s and Blue-capped Redstart; the tipical inhabitants of high altitudes like Guldenstadt’s Redstart, Altai Accentor, Lammergeier, Himalayan Griffon and those of the arid areas like Syke’s Warbler and Hume’s Whitethroat.
The night we will spend camping on a carpet of Edelweiss waiting for dawn to look for the Himalayan Snowcocks singing from the rocky peaks will stick in our minds.
The tour focuses mainly on birdwatching but we will have the chance to observe species like Gray Marmot, Tien Shan Ground Squirrel and Himalayan Ibex.
Moreover, visiting the archeological site of Burana we will discover the ruins of an ancient culture settled along the Silk Road.
A journey that will requires a bit of flexibility but that will repay us revealing step by step the uncontaminated beauties of this land a few steps from the sky.
